Kola MMC (a subsidiary of Norilsk Nickel) summed up implementation of the Event Program on Saving Fuel and Energy Resources in 2015.
The overall economic effect of the program implementation has amounted to about 32 million rubles which is almost two times more than the result of 2014. 36 events were performed by Kola MMC energy workers at Monchegorsk and Polar industrial sites. Implementation thereof resulted in reducing consumption of thermal energy by 9.47 thousand GCal, water — by 292 thousand m3, and electricity — by over 8,126 thousand kW/h.
Energy-saving projects were implemented in many production units of Kola MMC. Thus, installation of high-voltage switches to connect smoke exhausters in melting shop succeeded in reducing consumption of electricity by 1,251 thousand kW/h worth over 2.5 million rubles. Due to repair of fuel oil pipeline insulation in power supply shop it was managed to save 1.3 million rubles.
In 2016, the company is going to continue implementation of the strategy on energy efficiency. The new Program on Saving Fuel and Energy Resources includes 48 events.
