MMC Norilsk Nickel upgrades vehicle fleet

This amount is 76% higher than in 2011. Vehicle fleet upgrades are part of company’s fixed assets modernization program, aimed to increase efficiency of production operations.

MMC Norilsk Nickel is currently implementing several equipment modernization programs.

This way the Company’s Polar Division procured 39 Caterpillar pit dump trucks with a total cost of RUB 924 mil. between 2010 and 2012. Additionally, the Polar Division has allocated RUB 750 mil. towards acquisition of 21 pieces of equipment within the scope of the project aimed to increase production capacity of Talnah Concentrator.

The amount invested by Kola MMC last year into acquisition of vehicles for Severniy and Kaula-Kotselvaara mines totalled RUB 800 mil. These funds were allocated towards acquisition of underground trucks with a capacity of 40 tones (6 vehicles), BelAz pit trucks with a capacity of 130 tones, Caterpillar trucks (2 vehicles), loaders (10 vehicles), specialized mobile underground equipment (19 pcs.) and other equipment.

KMMC also allocated RUB 700 mil towards acquisition of the following over-ground vehicles: Liebherr crane with capacity of 100 tones, 3 rail snow blowers, track bulldozers, Caterpillar shovel loaders (5 vehicles) and other equipment.
