International conference on ‘countering radicalization of public sentiment, promoting terrorism’ was held on March 3-4 under the authority of Russian MFA and Russian G8 chairmanship.
Issues related to consolidation of business community and government efforts to combat terrorism were discussed during the event.
The conference was attended by representatives of major international organizations, such as UN, OSCE, European Council and SCO, as well as representatives of Russian government agencies, heads of traditional religious organizations, leading experts, social activists and academicians.
Panel discussion of the fourth session of the conference, discussing cooperation between civil society, business community and government authorities in countering terrorist activities, was opened by the Head of Corporate Security Directorate — Head of Security Block of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel — Vladislav Gasumyanov. The subject of his presentation was the participation of Norilsk Nickel Company in the public-private partnership project aimed at countering illicit trafficking of precious metals as a source of financing terrorist activities. As a result of the meeting, attendees expressed their support for the efforts invested by Russian MFA and Norilsk Nickel into countering radicalization of public sentiment, promoting terrorism.
