The annual final meeting of heads of corporate security departments of the Norilsk Nickel Group was chaired by Vladislav Gasumyanov, MMC’s Vice-President and Head of Corporate Security Unit.
The event took place on February 26, 2016, in Moscow and was attended by heads of security departments of the company’s Head Office, Polar Branch, Kola MMC, intragroup structures and security providing subsidiaries of Norilsk Nickel.
The reports were presented on ongoing situations with finance and production security and analysis of immediate threats and risks that Norilsk Nickel might face in the current economic and geopolitical situation.
According to Vladislav Gasumyanov, visits of the security unit specialists to Norilsk Nickel’s production sites that preceded the final meeting allowed the participants of the Moscow meeting to discuss the objectives for 2016 and the development of new approaches to resolve the most urgent challenges.
The need was emphasized to actively implement sophisticated automated facility security management systems and embed them into the security unit’s integrated information space. According to Vladislav Gasumyanov, such approach will contribute to higher efficiency of facilities’ protection while optimizing costs. “We need to strengthen the protection of facilities. This should be done by changing the form of safeguarding units’ activity and by taking into account financial and economic benefits. Within three years the company plans to set up so-called situation mobile centers to respond to signals of automated control systems. They are presently the most efficient way of protecting production assets, health and lives of people”, emphasized Vladislav Gasumyanov.
The list of topics that were discussed included issues of Nornickel’s information security and metallurgical production reconfiguration. “New logistics and commodity flows of our products amid growing rate of computer-related crimes present obvious risks that we should be able to prevent and combat. We have scrutinized these issues, and we realize what threats we may face, so we are trying to build a multi-layered defense around the company using organizational, technological and methodological means”.
At the final stage of the event, employees of Norilsk Nickel’s Corporate Security Unit were presented with commemorative tokens and valuable gifts for their professionalism and corporate security performance results.
