The Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment recognised Nornickel’s environmental achievements. An industrial award was given to Elena Bezdenezhnykh, the Company’s Vice President, for her personal contribution to environmental protection. The award ceremony took place at a dedicated meeting which was held by the Ministry and, among other things, reviewed the results of the Year of the Environment. Award winners also included businesses and non-profits that made a strong contribution to helping the environment.
Elena Bezdenezhnykh said that the award is a testament to the great work of Nornickel’s entire team. “I believe that we will be successful in implementing our environmental programme. We will continue cooperating with the Ministry of Natural Resources on a variety of matters, ranging from legislation to environmental activities,” she said. The Company’s Vice President also stressed the importance of consolidated efforts in addressing environmental challenges. “Through partnerships and joint efforts of the business community, the government and society at large, we are set to find the right solutions to tackle the most complicated environmental issues we are facing,” Elena Bezdenezhnykh said.
The Ministry’s meeting was also attended by Sergei Ivanov, Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport, Sergei Donskoy, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and Olga Timofeeva, Vice Speaker of the State Duma.
