Nornickel has been declared a winner of the SAP Quality Awards 2019 for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Its project to roll out SAP software in the Norilsk Industrial District received a gold medal.
The international jury recognised the Company’s project as the best in the most prestigious Business Transformation category. In this nomination, Nornickel overcame the finalists from the UK, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Spain, and Africa.
The winners were announced on 29 April 2020.

Since 2010, the SAP Quality Awards have been celebrating and recognising customers that lead the way in rolling out SAP software while adhering to SAP quality principles: delivering ambitious business objectives in time, simplifying and streamlining business processes, and using best practices in project management and implementation.
The adoption of SAP ERP across Nornickel’s operations in the Norilsk Industrial District was done under its programme of IT initiatives and complies with all relevant requirements. It is one of the largest transformation projects implemented in Russia and the CIS. The integrated information management system covers over 6,000 employees, around 50 assets and business units in the region, making the largest enterprises of the Norilsk Industrial District a part of Nornickel’s shared information environment and incorporating their processes into its end-to-end production chain.
It took the Company some 18 months to implement the project in partnership with BDO Unicon Business Solutions, involving more than 2,000 employees.
Nornickel plans to further develop the SAP-based business management system as part of its comprehensive development programme to 2025.
