Nornickel has won the 2017 Leaders of Russian Business: Dynamics and Responsibility contest that was organised by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), receiving an award in the nomination For High Quality of Reporting on Sustainable Development.
The award credits Nornickel’s best-in-class development, economic and social performance in 2017. “We have all we need to pave the way to other businesses, both domestically and globally. This award serves as a testament to that,” said Svetlana Ivchenko, Head of the Social Policy Department at MMC Norilsk Nickel.
Alexander Shokhin, President of the RSPP, said that markets value corporate social responsibility as a key factor of sustainable business and economic development.
Nornickel has long been topping the RSPP’s ratings. Last year, the Company won two categories: Environmentally Responsible Business and For Support and Development of Social Entrepreneurship.
The winners were announced at the annual social forum dedicated to Responsible Interaction of Business and Government in the Interests of Social Development, where the Company is a regular participant. Nornickel’s rivals in RSPP’s contests were LUKOIL, Severstal, Sistema and other majors.
