On December 2nd the London Metal Exchange (LME) added NORILSK copper brand produced by PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel Polar Division to the list of Grade A approved brands.
First Vice President-Chief Operating Officer of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, Sergei Dyachenko, commented on the achievement and said: “Registration with the exchange, given its stringent requirements in terms of quality, dimensions, and weight of deliveries, is in a way another quality assurance certificate that cements Norilsk Nickel’s reputation as a reliable supplier of high-quality products. I would like to thank our technical specialists and the Sales team for their great work”.
“This is a milestone for the company, because it makes deliveries of Norilsk Nickel copper cathodes to the LME possible, puts NN products on the same shelf as that occupied by major copper peers and provides with new prospects for global sales of copper cathodes,” said Markus Meurer, Head of Global Sales, Norilsk Nickel.
The listing is not the first for NN products at the LME. In October 1999 the Board of London Metal Exchange approved listing of four nickel brands produced by NN (NORILSK COMBINE H-1, NORILSK COMBINE H-1Y, SEVERONICKEL COMBINE H-1, SEVERONICKEL COMBINE H-1Y), deliverable to the exchange since January 2000.
In July 2015 Norilsk Nickel registered three nickel brands (SEVERONICKEL COMBINE H-1, SEVERONICKEL COMBINE H-1Y, NORILSK COMBINE H-1, some of the most popular brands in the Chinese market) and was listed by the Shanghai Futures Exchange. Norilsk Nickel is the first global nickel major with brands listed on the Shanghai Futures Exchange alongside the domestic ones.
