Russia’s key business NGO rates Nornickel's anti-corruption action “top class”

Russia’s largest business organisation — the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) — has raised NornickelPublic Joint Stock Company "Mining and Metallurgical Company "Norilsk Nickel” and its subsidiariesGo to the glossary’s anti-corruption rating to A1 in its second annual rating action from A2 a year ago.

This year, Nornickel received the highest rating, a sign of the company’s management strong focus on anti-corruption policies and superior effort in preventing bribery and corruption.

Nornickel is committed to operate with integrity on all levels both in Russia and abroad and has zero tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. In 2014, Nornickel was one of the first major Russian companies to join the Anti-Corruption Charter of Russian Business of the RSPP. In November 2016, the company joined the United Nations Global Compact, whose main mission is for commercial organisations all over the world to acknowledge and actively implement ten main principles to promote human rights, healthy labour relations, environmental protection, and anti-corruption efforts.

The Union rated 59 large Russian companies in 2021. The businesses were assessed in accordance with an international standard “Anti-Corruption Management Systems” and the Anti-Corruption Charter of Russian Business. There are a total of seven grades in the Union’s anti-corruption ranking.

Nornickel’s anti-corruption practices are based on a number of charters, including the corporate Code of Business Ethics that establishes the corporate rules and ethical standards of behaviour which all employees are required to follow. The Anti-Corruption Policy was also approved to ensure adherence to anti-corruption laws and the prevention, detection, and elimination of the causes and conditions that give rise to corruption.
