Vladimir Potanin, President of Nornickel, and Natalya Zhdanova, the Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory, held a meeting to discuss the status of a major local investment project, Bystrinsky Mining and Processing Plant (Bystrinsky GOK), and the development of the region’s social infrastructure.
They agreed that the first stage of Bystrinsky GOK would be launched on 31 October. “Undoubtedly, it will be a milestone for the Trans-Baikal Territory and a highly anticipated event,” the Governor said. The meeting also covered the prospects of launching the upcoming second stage of the plant.
Nornickel’s efforts in building the local social infrastructure received particular attention. The Company plans to allocate at least RUB 3.29 bn to relevant projects by 2027. Vladimir Potanin said that the Company would support socially important programmes and assist in setting up the region’s social infrastructure, including in the Gazimuro-Zavodsky District, where Bystrinsky GOK is located.
